Metacognitive Awareness Perceptions of Students with High and Low Scores on TIMSS-Like Science Tests

The current study explores the differences in metacognitive awareness perceptions of students who had high and low scores on TIMSS-like science tests. sample consisted 937 Omani students, 478 Grade Five 459 Nine. tests were specially designed for both grade levels, also completed a inventory which explored their use four main skills: planning, information management strategies, debugging strategies evaluation. MANOVA was used to analyze data. findings indicated that with test out-performed all skills surveyed. This true three performance areas analysed: as whole, lower-level questions higher-level questions. These highlight extent students’ influence recommends be trained improve skills, reviews several methods doing this, suggests such training might better prepare them taking However, it notes further research is needed explore impact student specific examinations TIMSS.
